3 Reasons to Be Quiet during Chaos

Updated: Dec 17, 2025

Zephaniah‬ 3:17‬ - “For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.”

If you've made it to November 2020 you understand that our nation is facing a pandemic of gigantic proportions. Perhaps you've heard sermons, podcasts, poets, influencers, virtual conference speakers and celebrities explaining how to survive during the crisis. Everyone has become an expert on your mental health and information overload is running rampant.

Hey, what makes this post any different?

Nothing.

Sometimes, God has to repeat His message in order for us to truly get it. Long before this pandemic shook us, He's been trying to remind us to calm down and find peace in Him. However, in the hustle and bustle of life we couldn't hear Him. While some places lifted their stay at home orders, others are ordering us back inside because the "invisible enemy" is predicted to gain traction during the fall and winter months.

Even though messages have us in and out of the house, we are more than conquerors, so the last thing I want you to do is hide your face!

But things are loud right now; people are telling you to stand up for social injustices, speak your mind about the pandemic, and be active in the political arena. While all of these measures are reputable, be careful not to move without a plan or speak without purpose!

People are asking you for action, but you might be best served seeking quiet communion. Here are 3 reasons to be quiet during the chaos to help you meditate on God's Word and get calm this month:

 1. Receive Direction - As you quiet your mind, meditate on John 16:13. The Holy Spirit is a guide. In Christ, you don't have to worry about which way to go, the Spirit will tell you which way.

2. Remember Deliverance - Zephaniah reminds us that the Lord is a mighty savior. He is a deliverer! He saves from sin, sickness, and struggles. Being quiet allows us to hear how He saved us in the past. Won't He Do It again?!

3. Restore Dependence - Our loyalties are often pulled in many directions making it hard to know what is true or what to rely on. Isaiah 41:13 says God will help you. Instead of trusting in temporal techniques & fiddling with fading fads, Try Jesus (not to be confused with the song by Tobe Nwigwe, LOL)...but still, Jesus has guaranteed He would help us.

The Lord knows what's happening in 2020. He is stronger than any struggle, clearer than any confused mind, mightier than any mental mountain of mayhem. He will delight in you in the midst of drama. By His love, He will calm your fears & serenade you into the shelter of His arms.

Happy Listening!

I repeat: Calm down. Things in life may change, but God's Perfect Peace remains the same; and it's often found in the unheard, unseen, undiscovered, quiet spaces of our hearts.
